COME AND PLAY
WATER POLO WITH US IN THE MORNING!!!
Water Polo is the fastest growing aquatic team sport
in the world, and Canada is no exception from this trend. The city of
Victoria is “waking up” to water polo as well. Thanks to
Saanich Water PoloSchool, the number of
children involved in the sport of water polo has more than doubled in the
last two years.
Play Before School
The “Wake Up to Water
Polo” school program aims at involving 50 students in the sport of water polo on a regular basis.
Athletes
will get a chance to swim, learn technical skills, and play the actual
game during the practice, once a week, right before
school!
Learn from the
best!
All practices are overseen by head coach for Saanich Water Polo
School, Ferenc Vindisch. Ferenc is a graduate of the famous
Hungarian water polo school, KSI of Budapest, a club that has produced
scores of World and Olympic Champions.
Location &
Time
The location of the program is
Saanich Commonwealth Place Pool, home of Saanich Water Polo School. Each
morning session is limited to 25 players. The practice runs from 6:45am –
8:00am on Mondays & Wednesdays. The only prerequisite is ability to swim 2 lengths of the pool
non-stop. A fun league will be organized every 6-8
weeks.
The magic of the ball,
combined with the attraction of an aquatic sport is what draws kids world
wide to the sport of water polo.
Water polo is a very popular sport in Europe,
Australia, and the US – especially in the state of California. The
US has attained great international success in the sport, thanks to the
early involvement of children in the sport, and the introduction of water
polo to grade school, high school, and college aquatics
programs.
“Wake Up
to Water Polo” is Saanich Water Polo School’s talent identification
program, that acts as a feeding system to the competitive side.
Players will
get a chance to move up to the competitive program if they wish, thereby
opening spots on the wait list through a system of continuous year-around
registration.

the ball, passing, shooting, playing!
